Thomas / Orito is an ongoing collaborative practice between Kohei Orito and Jordan Nichollas, rooted in an exploration of color, space, and the charged dialogue between the two. Each project functions as both a visual and conceptual study—examining how color occupies space, how space absorbs meaning, and how perception shifts through context.
For Denim Tears, Thomas / Orito centered their exploration on the colors red, black, and green, engaging their historical, social, and political resonance. The palette moves beyond surface symbolism, operating as a living language—one that carries memory, resistance, and identity. Through this lens, color becomes untethered from linear time, existing fluidly across past, present, and future, while space becomes a site of movement, confrontation, and continuity.
